Poll Shows Surprises for Military
The results of Rasmussen Report poll on the military were mostly predictable, but there were one or two surprises.
The first surprise was that among the different age groups, Gen Xers were the strongest supporters. Fully 72% of the former "slackers" support the military. Another surprise among the age groups was that the 29 and under crowd had the lowest opinion, and not the Boomers.
The biggest surprise was among military families:
Wow. These people, who intimately know what the price of service is in time of war still have positive opinions at a rate 11 points higher than the public at large, and those military families that have lost a loved one have the lowest unfavorables, too. I am humbled.

Support is especially high among those with a close friend or relative who gave their life while serving in the military. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of those who have suffered such a loss have a favorable opinion of our nation's armed forces. Just 11% have an unfavorable view.
